Wild Blueberry Festival

Featuring our favourite bright blue berry, the Wild Blueberry Festival will be packed with cool events all day long.

Children will:

  • Enjoy blueberry pizzas made in our awesome wood-burning turtle oven
  • Get their faces painted
  • Make eco-crafts
  • Have a blast at a Slow Food Kids Can Cook workshop led by Miriam Strieman
  • Watch the Monforte Dairy truck (named Elfreida!) being painted by Graffiti Group “Under the Radar”.

The whole family can:

  • Watch our contestants in the blueberry pie Bake-Off (with celebrity judges and fabulous prizes!)
  • Test your skills at Blueberry tastings
  • Listen to live bluegrass music by our awesome bluegrass bands.

Delicious food will include:

  • Tasty treats at the Slow Food bake sale
  • Ontario’s finest, sold by Ontario vendors and blueberry farms
  • Chefs in attendance include: Chris McDonald (Cava, XOCOCAVA), Brad Long (Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover), Anthony Rose (The Drake Hotel), Martin Kouprie (Pangaea), Buddha Dog and others!
  • Delicious fruit wines by Southbrook Wines.

Blueberry Pie Bake-Off!
Are you a fantastic pie maker? Do you love blueberries? We want you to enter your pie into our Blueberry Pie Bake-Off! Anyone can participate!

Prizes: (more details/categories to come): Two tickets to the Fourth Annual Picnic at the Brick Works (value $120 each), Evergreen Brick Works Farmers’ Market Dollars, gift certificates for some of our Farmers’ Market vendors, a Canadian Gardening magazine subscription, Canadian Living’s latest BBQ cookbook and lots more!

Bake-Off Rules:

  1. Pie must be 9″ or larger.
  2. Pie must be entirely made by the participant, from scratch and be brought to the Wild Blueberry Festival on Sunday, August 15th.
  3. Pie must contain blueberries as main ingredient.
  4. Participant must provide the recipe on the day of the Bake-Off.
